I’ve always been driven by a love for design, creativity, and sustainability. My journey into the world of building and design wasn’t by chance—it’s rooted in a belief that great spaces are created when people come together. It’s about collaboration, understanding each other’s vision, and creating something that not only meets needs but inspires. I’m here to help make that process not just successful but enjoyable, from the first sketch to the final detail.

Growing up on the coast of Big Sur, I’ve had a front-row seat to the challenges and beauty of designing and building in such a unique environment. I understand firsthand how important it is to honor the land and community, and that perspective shapes everything I do.

My journey began with a degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Portland (2006), where I started building my foundation in design, working with amazing firms and gaining real-world experience. But it wasn’t until I returned to Big Sur in 2009 and joined Pinney Construction Inc., my family’s business, that I truly learned the craft. Working side by side with talented contractors on some of the toughest coastal sites, I gained an appreciation for what it takes to bring designs to life on the ground.

Along the way, my projects grew—residential remodels, new builds, ADUs, landscape design, and even green roofs. With every project, I deepened my understanding of how design, construction, and sustainability can work together. That passion for sustainability led me to start Jessica Pinney Design in 2021, where I focus on green building practices and creating spaces that are both beautiful and environmentally responsible. In 2022, I proudly earned my certification as a Professional Building Designer, a goal I’d worked toward for years.​​​​
